Acute Pancreatitis Pathophysiology

Acute pancreatitis is often caused by gallstones and alcohol use—while most recover fully, repeated episodes may lead to chronic pain. By contrasting healthy and diseased tissues, this illustration depicts the progression of acute pancreatitis at both gross and cellular levels, including its cause and prognosis. This two page magazine spread is intended for an educated lay public to promote awareness about associated risk factors of acute pancreatitis, facilitate early recognition and intervention, as well as help the target audience make informed decisions about their lifestyle choices.
